It’s in the Bible isn’t it?

Speaking of memorizing scripture, have you put any of God’s Word in your heart permanently?

It’s amazing how different having God’s Word stamped on your heart can be than just knowing the verse is somewhere in the Bible. “Well,” you say to yourself, “I know what it says. Sort of. Kinda. Well, you know, it’s in the Bible isn’t it? Why do I need to memorize it?”

Often when we are in conversation with others, if we have to refer to our iPhone, eTablet or the old-fashioned paper Bible, the other person has moved on to a different topic and we have lost the chance to enlighten our friend with God’s truth. Or perhaps our lack of intimate knowledge of God’s Word will open the door for our friend to lead us astray with something that sounds like truth, but actually is not.

I think of God’s Word as the Rock I build my house on. No matter what assails me, whatever misfortune befalls me in my journey, I can refer back to God’s Word and find an answer, a solution, a comfort, a joy, or a peace that I can’t find anywhere else in this world.

You’d be astounded at the difference in you if you chose to learn one meaningful verse of God’s Scripture each week. Remember the old cereal commercial? Try it Mikey, you’ll like it.
